A little bit of winter!

This week in Little Acorns we explored ice as part of our topic on winter. First, we read the book “A little bit of winter” by Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell and talked about how some animals hibernate in winter time.

We collected leaves, twigs and other natural resources from outside and put them into little yoghurt pots. Then we filled them with water and put them in the freezer overnight. We then looked at them the next day to see what had changed.

Later in the week we made ice balloons and then floated them in the water to make icebergs. We took them outside and timed how long they would take to melt.
