Imogen- This Morning’s Star of the Week!

Hello everyone!

We would like to say a massive well done to Imogen in Saplings Class, who has recently won ‘This Morning’s Star of the Week’, feature on the breakfast show This Morning. She has worked very hard this term and has put so much effort into all her learning.

We would like to share Imogen’s amazing newspaper article titled, ‘Sea Creatures Drowning In Our Rubbish! Are you going to stand up for our world?’. Her Newspaper article uses such wonderful persuasive writing skills, exciting vocabulary and fantastic pictures!

Imogen won a well deserved Smiggle backpack full of goodies! (Mr Stanley will be jealous)

Well done Imogen, we are all so proud of you!

Congratulations 🙂

Save our Oceans!

In English this term, Saplings have been reading ’10 things I can do to help my world’. This week, we have been focusing our learning on saving our sea life by cleaning our oceans. The children have worked really hard this week and have created their own newspaper reports based on the animated story, ‘A Whale’s Tale’. Here are some examples of the wonderful work they have been busy doing this week.

Well done Saplings!

How is paper made?

In English this term, Saplings have been reading ’10 things I can do to help my world’. The children have been considering the three  R’s (reduce, reuse and recycle), and how we can help to cut down on the amount of waste we throw away. We have investigated how paper is made and why it is vital we use both sides of it. The children have used videos, non-fiction books and the internet to create a fantastic poster, showing how we get paper from trees. Well done Saplings!

Warm and Cool Colours

For our art learning this term, we have been looking at cool and warm colours. We looked at Vincent Van Gogh’s painting of the sunflowers to help us make our collages, using warm and cool colours. We have also discussed the different emotions that are associated with each colour and how this can give meaning to paintings.

Space Jelly Sandwiches!

This week, Saplings have been busy making space jelly sandwiches for Beegu’s surprise birthday party. The children were sent some unusual sandwich ingredients from space, such as toothpaste and marshmallows and asked by ZigZag the alien to help them make some delicious alien treats!       .

Beegu’s visit to Brook

On Thursday Big Acorns and Saplings class had a surprise visit from Beegu and we were very excited to ask her lots of questions about her home planet. We found out that her favourite food is red sparkly jelly and that her water is green. We told Beegu that we would be fixing her spaceship for her so that she could get home to her family soon!
