On Monday, Nuclear Neil from Fizz Pop Science delivered a fascinating assembly about friction.
Hannah was invited to sit on a hoverboard, after which Mr Shilling was nominated to take a turn so that the children could compare different weights and the impact on friction. Mr Shilling was very happy to wear the safety equipment provided!
Next, Grace had a go at the tablecloth trick, and very nearly succeeded! As well as this being an impressive feat, the children were taught about the role of friction in this trick.
Next was Drew’s turn. Drew was asked to wear some giant alien hands and rub them together to create friction.
Finally, Harry and Bethany were challenged to see if they were stronger than air, by doing a tug of war with plungers.
Fizzpop Science will be running a club at the school from September.
